nVent SCHROFF backplanes are primarily developed, tested and manufactured in-house. The attention to detail in design results in excellent signal integrity and the highest data transfer rates.

The nVent SCHROFF CompactPCI Backplanes are  fully compliant to PICMG specifications:

nVent SCHROFF CompactPCI backplanes are specially designed to achieve excellent power distribution, signal integrity, virtually zero cross talk, and minimum clock skew.  Using ceramic capacitors to reduce noise at frequencies above 10MHz radiated and conducted noise caused by the processor and PCI clock signals is minimized. Unlike aluminum capacitors with a 5-10 year life, ceramic capacitors have no limitation, which leads greater mean time to failure.  

Custom solution possible for slot counts not in ours standard portfolio, conformal coated backplanes or other requirements. 

CompactPCI Serial

The nVent SCHROFF CompactPCI Serial backplane portfolio comprises of system slot left and system slot right backplanes, backplanes with Ethernet routed as single star from the system slot to all peripheral slots and backplanes with full-mesh Ethernet
topology. In addition to the backplanes with Ethernet, backplanes are available where the upper connector pair, J6/RP6, is assembled for “rear I/O on RP6”. Backplanes with Ethernet routing and up to five slots have full-mesh Ethernet topology implemented which includes the signal lines for the star topology as well. Higher slot count backplanes with star topology and backplanes with full-mesh Ethernet implementation are available. nVent SCHROFF CompactPCI Serial backplanes are available with or without rear I/O connectors on J2..J5 / RP2..RP5 on each peripheral slot.

Custom solutions possible for partial rear I/O connector assembly, slot counts which are not our standard product portfolio, conformal coated backplanes or custom requirements.

The nVent SCHROFF VPX Backplane offering comprises of a selection of 3 U and  6 U Backplanes in accordance to The VPX Base Standard and to the OpenVPX specification.
Their superior Signal Integrity supports the highest transfer rates in the standard.  

nVent SCHROFF VPX backplanes are fully compliant with VITA specifications.

Power Backplanes

The nVent SCHROFF Power Backplane support pluggable PSUs with P47 connector, have 8 respective 16 HP width and can be assembled anywhere in the system.  

They are fully compliant to PICMG Specifications:

  • PICMG 2.9 System Management
  • PICMG 2.11 Compact PCI Power Interface

The power backplane can easily be connected electrically to the signal backplane by using cables with cable lugs.  The power input to the power backplane is realized with crimp contacts plugged directly into the P47 connectors. Parallel operation of 2 PSUs possible by connecting the current share bus on both power boards.  3U power backplane 8HP assembled with one P47 connector, 3U backplane 16HP with 2 P47, the 6U power backplane with 1 or 2 P47 connectors.

Test Adaptors

Test adapters are used to debug boards.  The test board is plugged into the front, then the assembly is inserted into a subrack/system slot.  Test points, signal and address lines, as well as power from the backplane connector, are conveniently located at the front of the assembly.  Usually the test adapter has also some fields for voltage measurements, current measurements, and if needed, pins for wire wrap to realize custom connections.
