nVent SCHROFF EN 45545-2 compliant Subrack Solution for Railway Applications

nVent, a global leader in electrical connection and protection solutions, announces its upgraded guide rail portfolio for nVent SCHROFF 19" subracks and 19" enclosures. The new guide rails are UL94 V-0 and EN 45545-2 compliant, ensuring low flammability and toxicity, and fulfill R22, R23 and R24 test requirements with the highest hazard level, HL3. These guide rails also meet RoHS and REACH requirements and are halogen-free in accordance with IEC 61249-2-21.

The EN45545 standard applies to rail vehicles and rolling stock equipment, to protect passengers from smoke and toxic gases in the event of a fire. Guide rails are just the latest addition of EN 45545-2 compliant nVent SCHROFF products, joining IEC and IEEE ejector handles including types IEL, IET and IES, insulation strips and coding pegs. Certification of the static trapezoidal handles and further components and accessories is underway.

Accessory-type guide rails are now available, featuring a groove width of 2.5 mm and compatible with rugged horizontal rails for high shock and vibration applications. Guide rails with coding (IEEE) are available as one-piece versions with a groove width of 2.5 mm in lengths of 160 and 220 mm. The update features a new color—modern anthracite gray (RAL 7016)—which replaces the pebble gray color (RAL 7032).

Starting with 2018, we have invested heavily in rail certified enclosure solutions for onboard applications and at this moment, its updated engineering offers convenient and certified solutions modified from the nVent SCHROFF broad rail product portfolio.
